Arts Council Project transformational
Over the last year, we have collaborated with award-winning food historian, author, podcaster and chef, Dr Neil Buttery to develop and ‘unlock’ our collections through food history.
Neil has curated Dr. Wall’s Georgian Dinner, a visually dramatic installation that brings to life the food and drink eaten off and served on Worcester porcelain, as well as thinking about the behind-the-scenes roles of the staff who prepared the food for the table.
Worcestershire LitFest & Fringe took inspiration and created original poems, from poets age 13 to 93, celebrating the ‘Language of porcelain and food‘, now displayed across our galleries.
Neil created hands-on historic food workshops for adults, families and young people. Heart of Worcestershire College Hospitality and Catering students took part in an intricate Georgian pastry masterclass. Cherry Orchard Primary School joined us for ‘From Pen to Plate’ pudding and poetry workshops. We also hosted hands-on festive pudding workshops at our first Home Educators Day.
Don’t miss ‘Dr Wall’s Dinner‘ and the ‘Dessert Course’ on your next visit, in our Georgian Gallery.
