Description

Tea pot and cover, tea bowl, coffee cup and saucer, saucer dish and sucrier and cover. Spiral fluted shape with border of gilt sprigs and blue and pink enamel flowers. Chamberlains produced this miniature tea set around 1800. Useful wares of all types were produced as toys, not just as samples. Costly and sometimes richly decorated sets were made for girls from wealthy families to help them to learn about the etiquette of tea drinking. It was always the duty of the Lady of the house to prepare and pour the tea for her guests. Pattern number 274.
