| Description | Wide salmon ground over decorated with gilded cornucopia and swags. White panels with full coat of arms of King George III. Interior of cup and back of saucer solid gold. Ring handle to cup. This exceptionally lavish cup and saucer is from a tea service made for George III by Barr, Flight and Barr around 1807. It is said that the king always drank his tea from the saucer, which is perhaps why he asked for the underside of the saucers in this service to be decorated in solid gold. |
