Ronald was at Royal College of Art School of ceramics, under professor Baker, passing out with Diploma Des RCA. He began as a designer for Royal Worcester in August 1953. Closely associated with the Doughty Birds and designed a series of small American birds. He began his series of tropical fish and flowers with two visits to Florida. He had his own business in Malvern manufacturing ormolu and china flower studies distributed by Royal Worcester. He was married to Ruth van Ruyckevelt who also worked at Royal Worcester.
