Description | Oval plaque with a head and shoulders portrait of Princess Charlotte of Wales and Saxe Coburg wearing a blue bodice, trimmed with gold braid and with three pink camellias in her hair. Princess Charlotte, daughter of the Prince of Wales (later George IV) and heir to the throne married Prince Leopold of Saxe Coburg in May 1816. Sadly the Princess died in childbirth in November 1817 and this portrait was painted by Humphrey Chamberlain in 1822. |
