The ice cream diaries
Some days it’s pistachio –
pale spring green – early warmth on flesh –
subtle – another time it’s cherry –
pink-to-red – that muscle of good cherry –
flesh flexed over lips – tongue –
or perhaps it’s ginger – that knowing warmth
gathering pace – other days it’s damson
and sloe gin – dark – delicious – best savoured
slow sucking from the spoon – at times
it’s vanilla – but never just – firm-flavoured –
rich – heavy cream – Madagascan –
only the good stuff counts.
