The Summer Bouquet

This colourful and bright festoon of summer garden blooms is the largest bouquet in the museums collection. On the front can be found a variety of lifelike painted flowers, including a purple passionflower and pink regal pelargoniums, with a wreath of pink, white, red, and yellow roses on the back. Framing the arrangements are garlands of ivy on the neck and sides with gilt, moulded leaves on the rims. This large vase was made for the 1853 Dublin Exhibition and was named ‘The Painter’s Vase’ as every artist at the Worcester factory contributed to its decoration.
