Celebrate 2025 Year of the Snake!

Worcestershire Chinese Association and educational charity Engage with China are delighted to team up again with the Museum of Royal Worcester and Royal Porcelain Works, to celebrate 2025 Year of the Snake in style.

Worcester’s popular free Chinese New Year celebrations are taking place on Sunday 2 February, 11am – 3pm at the Museum of Royal Worcester and Royal Porcelain Works.

The traditional Lion Dance will take place at 12.30pm on Severn Street, (road closed during the performance).

Family friendly activities are on offer for all ages, including Chinese tea-tasting and a traditional Chinese tea ceremony demonstration. See 2025 CNY Full Programme here.

A special treat for this year is a Chinese music performance Guo Yue on flute, as well as a martial arts demonstration by Kui de Tang. Pom Pom the Giant Panda will be touring the site and having photos with visitors.

Across the day, you can explore family-friendly arts and crafts inspired by Chinese New Year traditions, including calligraphy, collage and Snake themed craft. The full programme will soon be listed here.

Our Paint-Your-Own-Pottery studio will be open for adults and children to paint a memento of Chinese New Year to bring good fortune and ‘rebirth’ such as cute snakes, lions and pandas (*chargeable*). Book in advance here.

There will be Chinese food available to purchase in our courtyard. The menu includes Chicken or Vegetable Chow Mein with prawn crackers (£7/£6.50); vegetable spring rolls, soft drinks and beer.

There is a Quiet Hour at the MoRW 10am-11am for visitors with neuro-diversity or health conditions who would benefit from participating when it is less busy.

We look forward to welcoming the whole of our Worcestershire community on Sunday 2 February 2025 to help celebrate Chinese New Year in Worcester.

Find out more about the Museum and our opening times or find us. Please note this is a very busy event attracting 2,000 people last year. Please consider walking, cycling or using public transport.

Worcestershire Chinese Association was established by Chairman Frankie Tsang in 1999 as a non-profit, voluntary and community organisation to bridge language and understanding between Chinese and local communities.
